BGLAD is an open, weekly drop-in support group for youth ages 13 to 19, focused on being a welcoming and affirming space for people exploring or seeking support for their identities.
If you’re looking to meet new people who also identify as LGBTQ+, want to learn more about local resources, or just generally want something structured to do with other teens, come check us out!
Light snacks are provided.
BGLAD is co-facilitated by licensed mental health professionals who have experience working with LGBTQ youth. They help members feel welcome, maintain the rules of mutual respect and confidentiality, and offer ideas and resources during group time.
Thursdays, 5 – 7 p.m.

Frequently asked questions
Q: What happens at BGLAD?
A: The first hour is typically a game, a discussion, open mic night, arts and crafts, a speaker, or another activity focused on getting to know one another in a low-stress and welcoming environment. The second hour is typically when each person shares their highs and lows of the week and gets support from others as needed.
We have ground rules for the group that we all agree to and talk about every session.
Q: How many people show up and what’s the average age?
A: It ranges from week to week, but generally we have anywhere between 10 and 20 participants and the average age is about 15 or 16 but we do get some younger and some older participants within the range of 13-19 too!
Q: What do I need to do in order to attend?
A: Come to the Bellevue YES location on Thursdays just before 5 p.m. and wait in the lobby. If you want to let the front desk know you are there for BGLAD that is great, otherwise one of the facilitators will come to the lobby to get the group around 5 p.m. To keep things confidential we generally don’t yell “BGLAD group!” however we encourage participants to walk back with the crowd or ask the facilitator to confirm you are in the right place. Even if you come late please just check in with the front desk.
