Rich and Janet’s Olin’s Lifelong Commitment to Youth
For nearly five decades, Rich and Janet Olin have been steadfast supporters of YES, dedicating their time, expertise, and generosity to ensuring young people in our community have the resources they need to thrive.
Rich first connected with YES in 1975 while earning his Master’s Degree in Social Work at the University of Washington. As an intern, he provided counseling and related services. He was impressed by the skill and professionalism of the YES staff, and the range of counseling and prevention services the agency offered.
Rich and Janet met while working at a group home for adolescent girls. One of the things they had in common was a passion for helping children in need.
Rich returned to work at YES for eight years, most of that time serving as the Director of Youth and Family Services. Janet worked for YES for a year in a school-based program jointly operated by YES and the Bellevue School District. Rich and Janet remained deeply committed to YES and its mission long after they stopped working there. Rich went on to serve on the YES Board of Trustees for many years. Rich and Janet have consistently made financial contributions to YES, because they believe strongly in the importance of providing young people with the support they need to build healthy, successful futures.
“We are all responsible for the health and well-being of children in our communities,” say the Olins. “And YES has long been an invaluable resource for children and families in our community.”
We are incredibly grateful for Rich and Janet Olin’s unwavering dedication and support. Their generosity has made a lasting impact in the lives of countless young people, and we hope their story inspires all of us to find ways to care for our youth and community.
