Dylan finds support through YES' Coordinated Care Program

Dylan*, a 14-year-old girl with a love for cheerleading, had always been full of energy and spirit. But when she began to experience family challenges and dealing with friend group drama, her anxiety started to spiral out of control. It wasn’t long before Dylan felt completely overwhelmed, and her family knew they needed to find help.

“I knew I needed help, but in the past, therapy wasn’t very helpful, so I wasn’t sure where to go,” said Dylan.

In the past, finding mental health care had been tough for Dylan’s family. As a Medicaid-insured family, their options were limited, and previous experiences had left Dylan feeling more scared than supported. But Dylan’s longtime pediatrician at Allegro Pediatrics, who had known her since she was a baby, was determined to ensure she got the care she needed.

That’s when Dylan’s pediatrician introduced her to the THERAPY! program—a new coordinated care initiative between Allegro Pediatrics and YES. Thanks to the strong partnerships and community support behind this program, Dylan was able to start receiving help within a week.

From day one, Dylan felt the difference. Her counselor at YES, along with her whole care team, made her feel safe and understood. They worked together to help her manage her anxiety and regain her confidence.

Now, as she’s about to graduate from the program, Dylan is in a completely different place. She’s excited about starting high school in the fall and feels ready to face whatever comes her way. She’s grateful for the care and friendship she found through the THERAPY! program and knows that without her community’s support and her care team’s dedication, she wouldn’t be where she is today.

“I think everyone needs therapy, and I’m so happy I was able to find something that worked.”
