Cheryl Strayed, New York Times No. 1 bestselling author, will share her life of recovery and success with attendees at the Youth Eastside Services’ (YES) Invest in Youth Breakfast, on March 21, 2018 at 7:30 a.m at the Meydenbauer Center in Bellevue.

Youth Eastside Services’ (YES’) annual Invest in Youth Breakfast is the Eastside-based, youth behavioral healthcare organization’s largest annual fundraising event. Last year’s Breakfast raised more than 42% of the organization’s total annual fundraising goal, allowing YES to meet critical community needs. This includes launching Open Access, a model of care that provides walk-in clients and their family members with immediate consultations.

Strayed has authored many New York Times bestsellers including, “Tiny Beautiful Things,” “Brave Enough,” and “Torch.” Her most well-known memoir “Wild,” inspired the critically acclaimed Hollywood movie by the same name, featuring Reese Witherspoon. As the keynote speaker at the 2018 Invest in Youth Breakfast, Strayed will share her experiences with substance abuse and challenging family dynamics, issues that will resonate with YES clients and supporters.

“As we begin to celebrate 50 years of service in East King County, we wanted to invite a speaker who has the ability to inspire and give a message of hope,” said YES Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Patti Skelton-McGougan.

“Cheryl’s story and the stories of our clients demonstrate the importance of quality behavioral healthcare services that our youth and families can access with the generous donations that come from events like YES’ Invest in Youth Breakfast.”

The Breakfast will also feature personal stories from young YES clients who faced the difficulties of dealing with mental health issues, and have learned how to successfully navigate these challenges with help from YES’ expert clinicians and substance abuse programs.

Event registration ends on March 9, but we expect this event to sell out quickly; please reserve your seat soon.
