YES Celebrates 50 Years of Service

On November 1, 1968, Youth Eastside Services (YES) – then Heads Up – became incorporated. Fifty years later, YES is celebrating this incredible milestone which would not be possible without the generous support of our wonderful community. YES is your agency, and you help us remain strong as we move forward to serve the community for another 50 years.

In the early years, adult volunteers worked as “flyers” who sped across the Eastside to help kids with drug overdoses and other crises, or as “rappers” who talked with teens about whatever was troubling them. The YES of today has evolved to become a comprehensive behavioral health care agency serving thousands of children, teens and families across East King County.

Our year-long celebration recognizes everyone who has contributed to YES’ success – our Founders, donors, foundation and corporate funders, staff, trustees, volunteers, and the community. It is also a celebration of the thousands of lives that YES has touched, guided and healed over these past 50 years.

During 2018, we will redouble our efforts to spread the word so that others may benefit from our services and programs. We invite you to join us, and to help YES inspire others to support our work with their time, resources and advocacy.

As you know, YES welcomes everyone who comes through our doors, and we remain committed to providing high quality services no matter what an individual’s or family’s financial circumstances.  With continued community investment, we will keep this promise for many years to come.

Throughout the year, you will see our 50th anniversary highlighted in a variety of ways – e-news, publications, social media, and at events.  We would love to celebrate this amazing milestone with you in a special way.  We invite you to share how you have been involved with YES, and what your experience and our work mean to you. We will feature stories throughout the year, and we don’t want to miss yours! Please contact Lidia Harding, Marketing and Communications Manager at YES, at with your stories.

Our big community celebration will take place this fall and you are invited – stay tuned for more details!
