Six Ways to Help Children and Youth this Holidays Season

support youth this holiday season
Like everything else this year, this holiday season is filled with tough choices and significant challenges for youth needing counseling and recovery. We’re seeing young people experiencing a dramatic increase in isolation, fear, grief, anxiety, depression, trauma, substance use, and even death by suicide.

The good news is you can help!

You can support children, youth, and families struggling with mental health and substance use challenges this holiday season. You can give them the counseling and treatment they need, even if they can’t afford services. With your donation, recovery is possible FOR ALL!

Below are six ways you can support youth mental health this holiday season and give children, youth, and families hope for a better tomorrow.

Six Ways of Giving this Holiday Season

  1. Donate to YES’ End-of-the-Year Campaign
Send your critical year-end gift by midnight, December 31st, to provide children and youth a chance to recover, heal and thrive.
  2. Donate stock, a tax-smart way to give
By giving shares of stock owned for at least one year, you can receive the same deduction as you would for a cash donation and also avoid potential capital gains tax.
    Here’s how to donate stock.
  3. Honor someone with a gift in their name
Making a donation in someone’s name is a special way to recognize someone important. A special tribute card drawn by a YES client will be sent to recognize your generous gift.
Just check “I would like to dedicate my donation” here.
  4. Gather a village of support, host a fundraiser
Take action in your community! Invite your friends, family, and coworkers to support youth mental health by hosting a fundraiser. Workplace events, holiday parties, birthday celebrations, the ideas are endless!
Email Angela Chapman to get started.
  5. Purchase gifts using AmazonSmile
Amazon will donate 0.5% of the price of all your Amazon purchases. Simply shop on Amazon using the link smile.amazon.com and choose Youth Eastside Services.
Here’s a guide to using AmazonSmile.
  6. Donate gift cards to YES families
YES’ year-long gift card drive helps YES families experiencing challenging times purchase basic needs. We have families who need your help right now.
    Become a gift card sponsor!

This holiday season, many young people are urgently waiting for your help.  With your gift today, you can make recovery possible. But it all starts with providing one youth with mental health counseling and treatment.

We know you care about the mental health of children and youth.  And we’re so thankful you can help youth on the path to recovery!
