Latino Programs

In addition to Spanish speaking counseling staff, YES offers specific outreach prevention and education programs for Latino youth and families.

Safe Youth
Helps Latino youth avoid violence, gangs and involvement with the criminal justice system through culturally sensitive mentoring and proven violence prevention strategies that build community connections, cultural pride, self discipline and leadership skills.

Latino H.E.A.T.
A student leadership, community service and cultural empowerment group that meets at Sammamish High School every Thursday. Members of Latino H.E.A.T. take action and address problems in the community. They also participate in youth and academic development and cultural activities including, conferences, forums and cultural celebrations such as Día de los Muertos, Día del Niño and Dia de las Madres.

Mamás Unidas
Mothers uniting for a better generation!  Mamas Unidas offers workshops, support, community information, resource sharing and involvement in cultural community celebrations to empower Latino mothers to be leaders and mentors in their community. The group meets the second and fourth Tuesday of each month at the YMCA at 14230 Bel-Red Road in Bellevue.
