Support for LGBTQ Youth

BGLAD (Bisexual Gay Lesbian Adolescent Drop-in) is a free drop-in support group open to youth ages 13 to 19 who may identify themselves as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender or queer or who may be questioning their gender and/or sexual identity. The BGLAD group enables youth to meet their peers and discuss life issues in a safe and confidential environment. Trained professional co-facilitators help members feel welcome, ensure mutual respect, maintain confidentiality within the group, and offer ideas and resources during group time. The group meets at YES on Thursday evenings from 5 to 7 p.m.

One-to-One Counseling
In addition, YES offers one-to-one counseling for youth who want to discuss their sexual and/or gender identity. Youth may self-refer and will be helped regardless of their or their family’s ability to pay. We accept Medicaid/Medical Coupons, most insurance plans and we offer a sliding fee scale based on family income. For a confidential inquiry, call our intake office at 425.747.4937.

LGBTQ Youth Speakers Bureau
The LGBTQ Youth Speakers Bureau brings panels of LGBTQ youth to the broader community to help educate others about their lives. Through story-telling and discussion, panel members address the underlying issues and myths that lead to homophobia, school bullying and violence. Through involvement with the Speakers Bureau, young people are empowered to be leaders for change and their efforts have a profound impact in their communities. Panels can be designed to address specific audiences such as teachers, counselors, high school students, service providers and employees.
