Summer Parenting Classes Open for Registration
YES is pleased to offer our summer schedule of parenting education opportunities, with more to be added. All classes require registration in advance. Go to summer classes for a printable schedule.

The instructor for our spring classes is Jennifer Watanabe, a parent coach and certified Positive Disciplineparenting educator. The mother of two teenage sons, she has been teaching parenting classes at Bellevue College for 15 years.


Reduce Sibling Conflict this Summer
With school ending, siblings will spend more time together, which can lead to more arguments between them. Parents will learn how to manage these relationships by understanding the role of birth order, children's interpretation of fairness, and how differences in temperament and development influence how conflicts arise.

Brain Development and Early Learning
The research is now available on how children develop language and self control and what sort of play activities help prepare them for school. In this class, parents will learn activities that nurture their child's mind.

Parent Support Group

Cost: Free
Location: YES Bellevue in Crossroads Park
Schedule: Wednesdays
Time: 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

This drop-in group offers ongoing support and guidance to address concerns about substance abuse. The goal is to promote and support family recovery from youth substance abuse.  Friends are welcome as well.

Alcohol & Drug Education Class [ADEC]

Cost:
 $75*
Location: YES Bellevue 
Schedule: Typically the 4th Saturday, call to confirm next class date
Time: 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

This four-hour, one-time class teaches parents and kids about the effects of drug and alcohol use. Youth and parent classes are held separately but simultaneously. Topics Include:

  • Current teen drug trends.How drugs and alcohol affect the brain and body
  • Legal and other consequences for youth
  • Risks of progression (from use to abuse to addiction)
  • Recognizing a drug/alcohol problem and what to do about it
  • Making decisions that keep you out of trouble
